Cheap drinks, fun times
Picante is a little hole in the wall bar with a small dance floor just off downtown Cancun's main street, Tulum Avenue. It is the oldest gay bar in the city but the owners keep in refreshed. There are frequent 2 for 1 drink specials and it draws a lively late night (don't arrive before 11 p.m.) mixed crowd of locals and tourists . . . young and old . . . men and women. It also has a history of attracting local guys seeking a "generous" visitors (think a few beers and "taxi" fare). Many folks will often start at Picante before heading to Karamba, which is only a few blocks away. I have visited many times over the past several years and have always felt safe and had a fun time.
Boring...
I was in Cancun from Jul 3 to 10, I went to this bar around 11.30Pm and there was literally 3 people there. The beers are cheap, but the atmosphere is dead. It's in a really crappy neighborhood and hard to find. At 12 I ended up leaving to another nearby gay bar, which was 10x's better.
